Typically, when you look one or more months in advance of moving, you will be viewing models and vacancies similar to your actual apartment. Also, the apartments will accept a security deposit for future move-ins and place you on a waiting list. Some apartments will offer you the current rental rate and move-in special and others will let you know 30 days from your move-in date. This really depends on the current rental market.
